The vital roles of the teachers in the teachinglearning enterprise demand proficiency. To be effective, teachers need to grow professionally in congruence to the dynamic society where they live. As the society changes, so are the human activities within the society, teaching inclusive. It is thus imperative that teachers improve on their teaching methods through professional techniques and strategies. Systematic Classroom Observation is a strategy that could be employed by teachers to enhance their professional development. It provides opportunity for the teachers to document their classroom activities and behaviour for review and amendment where necessary. This paper therefore, is a discourse of the concept ofsystematic classroom observation with respect to its influence towards engendering the professional development of teachers in Nigeria.The weaknesses and strength of systematic observation were overviewed as well.
