Abstract :
Following the increasing need for sustainable construction materials, this study explores the potential use of Acha
(Fonio) Husk Ash (AHA) as a partial replacement for cement in concrete production. AHA, derived from the agricultural
waste of Fonio grain processing, was incorporated into concrete at replacement levels of 5%, 10%, 20%, and 30%. The
research also evaluates a 50:50 blend of AHA with Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI) pozzolana to
enhance the mechanical properties of the concrete. The experimental program included standard tests such as compressive
strength, slump test, and density measurements with different water/cement ratios.
