Sepsis is a systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) accompanied by clinical manifestations of infection. Sepsis is a common condition in the intensive care unit that is often associated with mortality and morbidity. Increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) or oxidants will occur in sepsis conditions especially by polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) in response to bacterial endotoxin.
