Reframing the Role of Leaders Navigating the Challenges and Opporunities of Tomorrow’s Workplace in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

Abstract : Digital technologies are always changing and evolving. In the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Digital Transformation encompasses the transition of enterprises and societies from the Third to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, where digital technologies like AI is used to create new products and services. The majority of people nowadays believe that Artificial Intelligence will replace human labor. In fact, while many tasks will undoubtedly be automated in the near future, this new type of intelligent machine is more likely to work alongside people. The objective of the present study is to assess and reframe the roles of leadership of tomorrow in navigating this paradigm shift in the workplace. A quantitative study was conducted to evaluate the influences of new skillsets that leaders should possess in an AI driven workplace. A total of 337corporate leaders in various industries and sectors were sought out to participate in the survey questionnaire in order to assess the impact and test the relationship between Ethical Decision Making, Emotional Intelligence, Spiritual Intelligence and Digital Competence on AI Ready culture leading to Organizational Performance of tomorrow’s workplace. It was found out that Ethical Decision Making has a positive impact on AI Ready Culture and AI Ready Culture has a positive impact on Organizational Performance. In contrast, Digital Competence has a negative impact on AI Ready Culture and lastly, Emotional Intelligence and Spiritual Intelligence effects on AI Ready Culture were not supported and it was statistically validated by the results of this research.
