Abstract : This paper discusses the Impact of Public Debt on Economic Growth in Africa. It recommends that our findings should be incorporated into public debt strategies. We raise a key question of; “how does the change in the rate of growth of public debt affect the change in the rate of growth of economies in Africa?” To answer this we adopt a model based on the Savings – Investment identity. We test the likelihood of public debt affecting economic growth using this model. The paper concludes that Public Debt has a relationship with Economic Growth.

Keywords : Debt Sustainability, Economic Growth, Gross National Income, Public Debt, Gross Domestic Product.
