Abstract :
Mutual funds have become one of the most popular investment options in recent years, offering investors a
professionally managed and easily accessible means of building wealth. By providing a variety of schemes that suit different
risk preferences, mutual funds ensure both diversification and liquidity, making them a convenient choice for individuals
seeking long-term financial growth. This study seeks to evaluate the level of investor awareness regarding mutual fund
features and to identify the major factors that shape investor preferences and risk perceptions. It further explores how
government policies and regulations influence investment decisions in mutual funds. The research is based on data collected
through a structured questionnaire administered to a diverse sample comprising government employees, private-sector
workers, self-employed individuals, retirees, and homemakers in Bengaluru. The results indicate that tax advantages,
liquidity, and potential for higher returns play a significant role in shaping investor attitudes toward mutual fund
investments. Moreover, the study highlights that government norms exert a noteworthy influence on the investment choices
of mutual fund investors.
