Abstract :
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is a transformative educational reform aimed at bridging the skill
gap and enhancing career readiness among Indian students. This study evaluates the impact of NEP-2020 on skill-based
learning and its role in shaping career choices. It examines public awareness, student engagement in extracurricular skill-
building, and the effectiveness of digital and vocational training initiatives. Additionally, the study investigates urban-
rural disparities in access to skill development resources and identifies barriers to policy implementation. Through this
research, we aim to assess how NEP-2020 fosters a balanced approach between traditional academics and skill-based
education, preparing India’s youth for a dynamic job market. The study also provides recommendations for optimizing
the policy’s implementation to ensure inclusive and equitable access to skill development opportunities.
