The study was conducted with the objectives to describe the production systems of local chickens and to assess the constraints those hinder the production of local chickens in Hadiya zone. To attain the goals of the study 180 households were randomly selected from two districts. In the study, socio-economic purposes of chickens, responsibilities of the house members towards the chicken management activities, challenges of chicken production and some other parameters were assessed and compared for different sites of the study. For most of the parameters in the study there was no significant difference at selected districts.
