Abstract :
The paper is focused on lectin characterisation
from Pisum sativum and Agaricus bisporous by different
experimental methods and assays such as antimicrobial
effect, Haemagglutination and Sugar specificity. Lectins
recognise cellular and molecular moieties and attach them
by their sugar specificity. These are highly specific to
carbohydrate moieties and the binding is reversible.
Invertebrate system sample was taken to check the
immunomodulatory effect of lectins. Trypan blue test for
cell viability and catalase assay for antioxidant mechanism
were assessed in this respect. And presence of lectin restores
cell viability and nullifies free radical mediated toxicity.
This paper will be valuable source for more studies of
lectins and other related area of research.
