An Investigation on the Relationship between Emotional Intelligence Practices and Leadership Effectiveness at Omantel Company

Abstract : Over the past ten years, the study of emotional intelligence has drawn a lot of attention in the literature on leadership and applied psychological research (Fambrough & Hart, 2008; Tang, Yin, & Nelson, 2010; Wong & Law, 2002). The practices of leaders' emotional intelligence have been contrasted to their perceived degrees of leadership effectiveness in this study. The goal was to investigate the relationship of leadership effectiveness and the emotional intelligence practices of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness (empathy), and relationship management. To ensure a fair representation of male and female participants, the research was carried out utilizing non-random sampling technique of a sample size of 40 senior managers, managers, and team leaders from the Omantel Company. SmartPLS 4.0, or partial least squares structural equation modeling, was used for the data analysis. The results showed a strong correlation between relationship management and leadership effectiveness, highlighting the critical importance of developing and sustaining strong connections in positions of leadership. Self-awareness, self-management, and empathy, on the other hand, had comparatively lower levels of reliability and validity. These findings point to the need for more study and the improvement of assessment tools in these particular fields.
