Abstract :
Vande Bharat Express has become a prominent symbol of the modernisation of Indian Railways. It is an indigenously designed semi-high-speed train service intended to provide faster inter-city travel, improved passenger comfort, modern safety systems and a more contemporary railway experience. Its expansion must, however, be examined in the context of the larger fiscal framework of Indian Railways because expenditure on rolling stock is only one component of the total investment required. Tracks, signaling, electrification, stations, maintenance depots, safety technology and human resources are equally important.
