To deliver better services at all levels of a health care system, information exchange is crucial. The patient, the doctors, and the organization need to have access to the patient data. Access to the right information and at the right time is crucial to improved patient care in any health facility. Patient history and radiological data must be available whenever and wherever they are needed hence this requires the integration of information from several systems within a healthcare setup. The main purpose of integrating health information systems is more like modification of business practices in an organization, which implies employing faster or simple working methods to enable more efficient and effective organization. The study's main objective was to assess the status of the design framework of the RIS and HMIS in the selected public hospitals in Uasin Gishu County. These hospitals are beneficiaries of the Managed Equipment Service Project by the Kenyan Government through the Ministry of Health. The selected hospitals are Ziwa Subcounty Hospital, Burn Forest Subcounty Hospital, Moi Teaching, and Referral Hospital. The study aimed at developing a framework for integration RIS and HMIS. The study carried out an all-inclusive participatory investigation into ways of integrating RIS and HMIS in the selected public hospitals in Uasin Gishu County by administering questionnaires. Data from the questionnaires was analyzed using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS v 20) and the findings show that both RIS and HMIS used in selected hospital exist as independent systems that do not exchange data. The study recommended an evaluation of both RIS and HMIS used in the selected public hospitals in Uasin Gishu County.
